| What is the difference between soft soles and smileys? Soft soles have suede leather soles, are as close to walking barefoot as possible and in 4 sizes from infant to 24 months. Smileys have a light flexi rubber sole and a unique construction that still allows the natural development of little feet. They offer great protection for both indoor and outdoor wear and are available in sizes up to 36 months. | |
| |
| Do shooshoos stay on? Absolutely – that is the beauty of the shooshoos construction – easy for moms to put on and so comfortable that your baby won’t want to take them off. Many styles have Velcro fastening to allow moms to adjust shoos for a more snug fit. | |
| How safe are shooshoos baby shoes? shooshoos have been thoroughly tested by the South African and British Standards authority and are 100% safe for baby wear. The leathers are free of all harmful chemicals – no Chrome(V1 ), Azo dyes, heavy metals or any banned substances. | |
| How do shooshoos ensure a comfortable fit for my child's feet? Gentle elasticized ankle makes it easy for you to put on, but hard for little fingers to take off. Wide opening and toe box accommodate even the chubbiest little feet. Velcro fastening allows you to adjust the fit and makes for easy on and off. | |
| Are shooshoos footwear made from genuine leather? Yes we use only the softest natural eco leathers that ensure that your child’s feet develop naturally. Genuine leather is naturally durable and we offer a 100% guarantee on all our shoos. | |
| How do I care for shooshoos footwear and jeankelly bag? For the soft sole shoes: You should wash them carefully in cold water with a mild detergent. Shape correctly and allow to dry out of direct sunlight. Shoes may be a little stiff initially; however the leather will soften with wearing. For the smiley rubber sole shoes: Do not put in a washing machine. Only spot clean smileys with a little water and a mild detergent. Once finished, leave to dry out of direct sunlight. For the jeankelly bags: Condition and clean with a good quality non-coloured leather cleaner and non- abrasive cloth. Interiors may be wipe-cleaned with a damp cloth and some mild detergent. Please allow your bag to fully dry before re-packing it. Genuine leather is a natural product which ages beautifully. Every bag is unique and any colour variations enhance its character.. | |
| Can I put shooshoos footwear in the washing machine? We don’t recommend putting soft soles or smileys in a washing machine. Please follow the care instructions outlined in the “looking after little feet” section on the home page. | |
| Is it safe if my child puts shooshoos in his / her mouth? Absolutely - shooshoos are made from the safest non toxic, lead free leathers. | |
| Are larger sizes available? Currently shooshoos soft soles are available up to size 18-24 months and the smiley range is available up to size UK 7. | |
| Can Shooshoos be worn in the rain or snow? shooshoos footwear is not recommended to be worn in the rain or snow. They may be worn outdoors but are water resistant, not waterproof. | |
| Why are baby or toddler shoes with flexible soles better for my child? While pediatricians now agree that barefoot is best for foot development, it is not always practical. Flexible soles are recommended because they are protective for indoor and outdoor wear, yet not restrictive. The soft sole and the smiley shoes actually move with your child’s feet and fit them perfectly all the time. Both provide your child’s feet with the protection they need while still allowing their little feet to develop naturally. | |

| How often should you measure your child’s foot for the best fit? Children’s feet grow quickly! Measure at least every two months during the first year, and every three months from 1- 3 years. | |
| How can I ensure the best fit if I order online? Please download our sizing chart in PDF and print it out for the best sizing match. • Please check that this page is printing correctly. Printer options should be set to "none" and the ruler in the centre of this page, must match your ruler. • Place your child’s heel on the line at the bottom of the chart. Draw a line across that touches their longest toe. • Before you choose your size, allow 1/8th to 1/3rd of an inch (1/2 to 1 cm) for growth room. • If your child wears a thick sock, please also take this into consideration. The buzz words in the footwear industry at the moment are "barefoot science" and "barefoot running." There is an increasing amount of research being done on shoes that allow the foot to mimic walking or running barefoot. This is the most important feature to look for when deciding on the best shoes for your child. The shoes chosen should have as little influence on the foot as possible. For a growing foot the only reason why a shoe should be considered in the first place is to protect it from hard surfaces. So what then should be considered when choosing the correct footwear for a child? Simply look at the standards Shooshoos set when designing their footwear.
